USE WISDOM IN MAKING DECISIONS

Although we are Christians and possess completely different world views than many of our non-believing friends and neighbors, we do share many of the same experiences they do. After all, members of the body of Christ are in the world; we are human beings, just like everyone else. One such shared commonality is the time-honored and often painstaking process of making decisions.

To many people in the world, making important life decisions is more than likely a self-sufficient, inward looking process. However, as faithful children of God we look to the Lord to guide us, bless us and give us wisdom as we seek the course or action most closely aligned with biblical teaching.

This we know from the Scriptures: the early disciples did not take decision making lightly. It was often a grave and reverent process. They manifested a spirit of dependence upon the God who created them and gave them life through Jesus His Son. Take for instance the decision of replacing Judas with another apostle, found in Acts 1. It was a somber process, filled with Scripture and prayer (Acts 1:20, 24).

So, it pretty much goes without saying, but we must be reminded of this point: Whether as a congregation, a family, a married couple or an individual, making the right decisions is critically important. The wrong decision can lead to all sorts of hurt, regret, sin, division, and break-ups. Dear Christian, seek God and His wisdom. . . always! "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" (James 1:5).
