THE WORLD OR CHRIST: WHAT SHALL IT BE?

Compared to most of the world, America is still a very religious nation, and I am referring to Bible-claiming religious people. Yes, there are still untold millions who claim to believe that the Bible is from God an that it is our absolute standard of authority. However, we still live in a very humanistic and worldly society. I would say the vast majority of Americans have decided to "go their own way," reminiscent of the days of the Judges when every person did that which was right in his or her own eyes. This can be very disheartening, especially in light of the fact that so many members of the Lord's church have been affected by this ungodly, carnal philosophy.
The apostle Paul addressed these very matters in the book of Ephesians: "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of thos things which are done of them in secret" (Ephesians 5:11-12). In speaking of vile, worldly things, Peter also noted that such things were to no longer be a part of a Christian's life. "That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God" (1 Peter 4:2).
So, dear Christian brothers and sisters, what shall we choose, a life for Christ or a life after the lusts of the world? The choice is ours. As we all well should know, the Bible is indeed our absolute standard of authority in matters of faith. Furthermore, we shall be judged by the Book Divine in the great day of judgement. Are we ready for that day?
