One of the greatest blessings in this life is the opportunity to know God. We must ever be mindful of what a great privilege it is to have access to Him through Christ (John 14:6). Now, think with me for a moment. Can you imagine how terrible it would be if God had hidden Himself from us, if He had concealed His identity from us? What if it were our lot in life to live our existence separated from Him? Miserable, indeed. Thankfully, we can know our heavenly Father and be saved through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus!
Furthermore, knowing God is no guessing game, either; for He has revealed to us in the Bible His traits, qualities, and characteristics. We serve a God who has abundantly availed Himself to us, and so our hearts should forever be filled with inexpressible joy and gratitude. While we are blessed beyond measure with the amazing privilege of knowing the God of heaven and earth, let us be mindful that we must do our part in maintaining fellowship with Him. We must ever strive to stand in His presence, keeping His commandments from the heart. (1 John 5:2-3).
When a person truly learns who God is and there is no darkness in Him at all, he or she should greatly desire a forever fellowship with Him: "But whoever keeps His Word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him" (I John 2:5). Fefore this declaration of truth, John wrote, "...and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ" (I John 1:3b). Seek God today before it's too late.
